Kimberly Akimbo - Live at the Oakland!

The Oakland Center for the Arts, 220 West Boardman St. presents the haunting and hilarious comedy, Kimberly Akimbo, Fridays and Saturdays, November 4, 5, 17, 18 and 19 at 8 p.m.

Set in the wilds of suburban New Jersey, Kimberly Akimbo is a play about a teenager with a rare condition, causing her body to age faster than it should. When she and her family flee Secaucus under dubious circumstances, Kimberly is forced to reevaluate her life while contending with a hypochondriac mother, a rarely sober father, a scam-artist aunt, her own mortality and, most terrifyingly of all, the possibility of first love.

Written by David Lindsay-Abaire, Kimberly Akimbo was hailed by the New York Times as “the comedy of the year, and a heartbreaking study of how time wounds everybody.”

The Oakland production is directed by Cleric Costes and features John Cox, Elizabeth Conrad,Dylan White, BrandyJohanntges and Molly Galano as “Kimberly.” Stephanie Sarrach is the stage manager. An opening night reception will follow the November 4th performance. The Star Gallery will feature the work of artist Maple Turner.

Tickets for Kimberly Akimbo are $15 for adults, $12 for seniors and $10 for students. For reservations and further information, call the box office at (330) 746-0404.
